We are gathering some stories and reflections from the wonderful people who flocked together for six days in this beautiful 200sqm room in Kreuzberg, Berlin from June 26 to July 1, 2012 to experience Theatre for Living with David Diamond. You´ll find them under the "Life after TfL" menu.

Since David´s work is essentially relevant to our work at Performing Transformation, and since his work has been of great inspiration to us, we have invited David to Berlin to offer a 6 day TfL training June 26 - July 1, 2012. Set Design for Community Theatre

The use of locally available resources; the search for solutions that simplify the change of the characters’ costumes; the assembling and dismantling of settings and the transition from one scene to another; and the creation of representations that compressing time and space, without unnecessary details and with minimal changes of environment; are fundamental ingredients in working with community groups, which challenging us with limitations of resources, experience and time availability.
Through the Aesthetics of the Oppressed techniques, developed from found objects (recycled) will be created scenic elements. The more powerful the image that represents a certain reality being, the greater the effectiveness of its communication and encouragement of the spectators’ interventions.

Bárbara Santos was general coordinator of the Centre of Theatre of the Oppressed until 2008, where worked with Augusto Boal for almost two decades in several projects including Legislative Theatre and Aesthetic of the Oppressed. Develops the Madalena Laboratory – Teatro das Oprimidas, an innovative aesthetic experience on the specificities of the oppressions faced by women. She is artistic director of KURINGA (Germany) and editor of METAXIS (Brazil).

Cachalote Mattos is a set designer of Centre of Theatre of the Oppressed (Rio de Janeiro), where he gave crucial contribution for the development of the Aesthetics of the Oppressed in Brazil, Mozambique, Senegal and Guinea Bissau. He has a lot of experience working for TV, Movies and several Theatre productions. His work earned several important prizes in Brazil.
